# TRENDING FASHION IN ETHIOPIA

Ethiopia is a country in the Eastern part of Africa, with archaeological findings dating back more than three million years. It has a population of over 112.1 million persons. It is home to ancient culture, which includes the ancient Christian churches, ancient cities, tombs, castles etc. There are between 45 to 86 languages spoken in Ethiopia but Amharic which is similar to Arabic is widely used. Ethiopia is made up of over 80 ethnic groups, although the major ethnic groups are Oromo, Amhara, Somali and Tigrayan, which makes up 75% of Ethiopian population.

#### TRIBES IN ETHIOPIA AND THEIR FASHION

Generally, Ethiopia traditional costume is made of woven cotton. Both men and women wear this costume called gabbi or Netella. Women wear dresses  (habesha kemis) and netella with borders of coloured embroidered woven crosses or other designs.

**The Oromos**

Men put on Woya which are toga-like robes, usually white and a skirt called wandabo. The women wear qollo and sadetta, a cotton cloths traditionally hand –spun and hand-woven.
