Is Davidoff Cool Water a Summer Fragrance?

Davidoff Cool Water is often worn in summer because of its fresh, marine character, though nothing stops you wearing it all year. It was launched in 1988, created by perfumer Pierre Bourdon, and is produced by Coty under licence from Davidoff.

The notes

• Top: mint, sea water and rosemary.
• Heart: lavender, jasmine, geranium and neroli.
• Base: oakmoss, musk and sandalwood.

Why it suits warm weather

The mint, sea water and rosemary give a cool, clean opening, which tends to feel pleasant in the heat. Lighter, fresher fragrances usually feel less heavy than rich, sweet ones when it is hot.

Wearing it at other times

The lavender, oakmoss and sandalwood give it enough depth for cooler days too. Davidoff has released many Cool Water editions since, from Cool Water Woman in 1997 to Cool Water Oceanic Edition in 2023, so check the name on the bottle.
