What is a professional coat called?
Originally, the frock coat was known as a loose, long-fitting piece of clothing that, like the robe of a monk or priest, was usually fitted with a belt. The down coat gets its name from the fact that it is a jacket that is lined with insulating material to really keep you warm inside. In the end, they left the Australian Outback to develop as drivers, and clothing became known as Drover clothing. They were worn by pilots (and now everyone else too) for a long time and feature large sleeves and fitted elastics on the cuffs, waist and collar.
Business formals, which are normally reserved for special events and meetings, are one or two times shorter than daily office wear.
